FM Logistic has expanded its logistics warehouse in Illescas with its sister company NG concept. This construction and engineering company belongs to the same group.
Due to the great expansion of FM Logistic Ibérica, which includes Spain and Portugal, and the arrival of new customers in recent years, it has had to continue with its plan of construction and expansion of new modules. Construction has begun on modules B9 and B10 which will cover 18,000 m2 (8,000 and 10,000 m2, respectively). The constructions will be completed in early 2023. “This module is the consequence of the forecast arrival of new customers at FM Logistic. The need for more space for their services is a priority,” adds Maxime Piperel, project manager at NG Concept.
“We are very pleased with the expansion of our warehouse. It means that we are continuing to grow and that we are on the right track. In addition, we will soon also expand the photovoltaic panels on the surface of our warehouse. They will increase from 100 kW to 500 kW and we have already signed a contract for the construction of new modules in the future according to market needs”, argues Álvaro Íñiguez, Operations Director of FM Logistic Illescas.
Due to this great growth of FM Logistic in terms of turnover and activity, it has also had an impact on the number of contracts. For this reason, it has also been necessary to expand the work area. This results in the construction of a new office with an area of 660m2 between the new module B9 and B10, which will also be available early next year.
“With the idea of providing our employees with the best possible work spaces. Also soft natural ventilation, spacious dressing rooms and an adapted and warm dining room”, explains Maxime Piperel.
Sustainability
FM Logistic is very committed to the decarbonization of the logistics and transport sector. In addition, FM Logistic’s logistics warehouse in Illescas is LEED Gold® Certified. The new Phase is LEED® registered, a sustainable building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Similarly, Maxime adds that the materials to be used in the construction of the new module are sustainable: “All the components we use in all our constructions pass very demanding environmental filters.
“The Illescas warehouse is located in the Iberum Central Platform. This is a logistics and industrial area of more than 3.5 million square meters. It is the most environmentally friendly and sustainable industrial space in Spain, contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint and becoming the first Ecopolygon in Europe,” argues Álvaro Íñiguez.
