FM Logistic has taken an important step in its strategy of expansion and improvement of services by having part of its warehouse in Illescas authorised as a Temporary Storage Warehouse (TSW). Specifically, modules B1, B2, B9 and B10, with a total surface area of 35,086 m², are already operating under this customs regime, which reinforces the Company’s capabilities in the efficient management of the international supply chain.
A strategic commitment to the customer
Obtaining this authorisation responds to FM Logistic’s philosophy of continually investing in its customers, who are the core of its business model. After successfully consolidating its national and international warehousing and distribution logistics network, the company has decided to focus its efforts on optimising other critical aspects of the supply chain, especially those related to forwarding services. This strategy aims to offer its customers operational improvements and cost reductions, particularly in distribution logistics.
Advantages of the TSW warehouse
FM Logistic’s new TSW in Illescas will allow its customers, especially those importing goods from outside the European Union, to benefit from a series of operational and financial advantages. These include:
- Reduction of delays at ports due to congestion, speeding up, via the transit process, the transfer of goods to the Logistics Warehouse pending final customs destination.
- Optimisation of storage space, allowing more efficient use of the facilities.
- Financial savings, as import customs clearance can be delayed or partially completed, according to customers’ needs.
- Streamlining access to the goods, once import clearance is decided, eliminating transport times from the port to the warehouse after clearance.
- Up to 90 days to decide the customs destination of goods, giving customers additional time to optimise their business decisions.
Commitment to customs excellence
FM Logistic has initiated this customs activity with a solid approach, ensuring customs responsibility from the very beginning and having a customs representative and a specialised consultant accompanying the company in this process. The proper management of the service within a logistics warehouse that combines Customs and General Regime is fundamental, and FM Logistic is committed to demonstrating its capabilities both to the AEAT and its General Directorate of Customs, as well as to its clients.
In addition, FM Logistic has obtained LAME (Local Authorised for Export Goods) authorisation, which allows it to store goods prior to export and to carry out customs clearance directly from the warehouse, without the need to move the goods to customs offices.
Future prospects
Authorisation as an TSW is part of FM Logistic’s broader plan, which includes future Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status – both for customs simplification and security (AEOF) – and possible expansion to Public Customs Warehouse (PWD). This expansion would allow the indefinite suspension of duties and taxes until the final destination of the goods is determined, offering even more flexibility and competitive advantages to its customers.
With this initiative, FM Logistic reinforces its position as a key player in the logistics sector, able to offer comprehensive solutions adapted to the needs of international trade.
