FM Logistic celebrates the culmination of the SHINEFLEET project (Hydrogen-based Technological Solutions for INteligentE and sustainable mobility of autonomous Heavy Duty fleets), a pioneering initiative that began to take shape in 2020 with the support of the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI).
The project, led by Técnicas Reunidas and coordinated by Zabala Innovation Consulting, has involved the participation of a consortium of innovative companies, including FM Logistic, which has led the development of the automation of a tractor unit with a hydrogen cell, together with AVIA Ingeniería and Idneo, with the technological support of Tecnalia.
During these years of work, at FM Logistic’s facilities in Illescas, significant progress has been made in the creation of a digitalized environment where the tractor and trailer can “see” the center’s roads and its surroundings, as well as in the automation of critical maneuvers such as docking at loading/unloading docks and approaching barriers, carried out semi-autonomously with the driver supervising from inside the vehicle.
In addition, an online platform has been developed where truck trips are parameterized, controlled and directed and further reduce energy consumption and emissions, in line with the project’s sustainability objectives.

The success of SHINEFLEET is not an end point, but a new beginning: the developed tractor unit will be used in other R&D projects.
