FM Logistic, one of the largest international logistics operators, and the Egueiro Association, a non-profit entity that develops specific rehabilitation programs for drug addicts and for young people who have been taken into care, have signed an agreement that implies the possibility for FM Logistic to offer Egueiro Association, work collaboration opportunities for people at risk of social exclusion.
Óscar Reyes, site manager of FM Logistic Valls and Jaume Vilanova, general director of the Egueiro Association, were present at the event. As a first step, a young man who arrived in the country as an unaccompanied minor will be incorporated into the FM Logistic Ibérica staff in Valls. In this way you can enter the labor market.
”The social objective of the FM Foundation is to assist children and support job placement, to expand opportunities regardless of place of birth. We consider that companies have tools to fight against social exclusion,” explains Óscar Reyes.
Gainful employment is an essential element in the final phase of any detox therapy. Furthermore, it is a key factor for full social reintegration. However, given the peculiarities of our labor market and the current crisis generated by Covid-19, finding a job is not an easy task. Neither for former drug addicts, nor for other groups such as formerly supervised youth who arrived in our country as unaccompanied minors.
For Jaume Vilanova “a social reintegration is not complete if it does not involve work. It is very difficult for our entity for people who have overcome addictions and young foreigners who have been supervised to enter the world of work.” Finally, he adds that “for this reason, the agreement with FM Logistic is an opportunity for these people to have a complete and full incorporation into society.”
The link between both entities lies in their involvement in the province of Tarragona. FM Logistic has been managing logistics in said province for more than 10 years, with more than 1,000 employees. The Egueiro Association, for its part, has its headquarters in Valls and different resources such as therapeutic communities and supervised apartments.
Jorge Rodríguez Lopesino, HR director of FM Logistic Ibérica, has stated that “in this first collaboration with the Egueiro association, the involvement of the mayor of Valls, Dolors Farré Cuadras, has been key. It must be recognized that the Valls mayor’s office and its team are firmly committed to economic and social development. Therefore, it has been very easy to align ourselves in a commitment that fully coincides with our vision of community involvement. I hope this initiative can serve as inspiration.”
